"The Mayflower Quarterly" Feb. 1995, page 59 to 65 by Charles Martin Ward,
Jr. the great-great-great grandson of Cyril Carpenter, the youngest son of
Timothy and Hannah Carpenter. This article documented Josiah's son, the
Rev.
Timothy Carpenter-19295 and his family.
I hope there is new material and sources in the Sept 2010 "The Mayflower
Quarterly." If anyone has access to it, please compare it to the CE
data.
Good articles with sources are always needed.
Mr. Carpenter and fellow subscribers,
As subscribers may have surmised, I also published the article that is
mentioned in John R. Carpenter's posting, but not named. The article,
"Carpenter Descendants of John Howland in Tennessee," appeared in the September,
1995 issue of THE MAYFLOWER QUARTERLY.
My most recent article, "Huldah (Walker) Carpenter Willmarth Walker
(1721-1815), of Rehoboth and Attleboro, MA: Matriarch of the Carpenter Family,"
appears in the September, 2010 issue of THE MAYFLOWER QUARTERLY. No
comprehensive biography of Huldah (Walker) Carpenter has appeared before and I
believe anyone reading it will find information not published in the past, not
only dealing with Huldah, but also with her children and grandchildren.
One only has to read the title of my latest article to realize previously
published works mentioning Huldah neglected to comprehensively document her
life. My article documents her three marriages and the fact she lived to
be nearly one hundred years old. A.B. Carpenter listed her date of death
as being in 1747, which is totally wrong. Nevertheless, that hasn't
stopped others from recording that date of death on numerous online sites.
My most recent article addresses, among other things, the children
inaccurately attributed to Josiah Carpenter and Huldah Walker, by A.B. Carpenter.
It discusses the children of Deacon Cyril Carpenter and his first wife,
Lucy (Lane) Carpenter and a child A.B. Carpenter attributed to them that
cannot be substantiated by contemporary records. I also make reference to and
quote the published funeral sermon of Deacon Cyril Carpenter, which I don't
believe has ever been referenced or commented upon in the past.
If I hadn't felt I had a significant number of new sources and material, I
wouldn't have undertaken the considerable effort to publish my latest
article.
