ZACHARIAH "LEE" CARPENTER 1805 GA - c.1875 TX, HARRISON CO.
SPECULATION #1:
Zach of Harrison Co TX is the same man of Harris County Georgia. His children from his
first marriages were over 20 yrs old when he moved to Texas so only the younger children
were moved.
SPECULATION #2:
Looking at the 1860 census and the last two males born 1848 and 1850, there is reason to
believe they were sons of second wife Margaret Jordan. However, another possibility is
that the Thomas M. Carpenter (mentioned in the Henry Co Telegraph News 1833) was
Zach's brother. Thomas M. died in 1853 leaving orphans. Among them, the two younger
sons were named Zachariah & Lewis. Zach was born 1849 and Lewis was born 1845 in
Alabama according to Bible records. I have accounted for Thomas M.'s orphans except
these two. Could they be the two boys living with Zach (b.1805) in TX and was he their
uncle? The boys do not appear with Zach after the 1860 census.

MARGARET died or divorced Zach as there is another Harris County marriage listed for a

There is a Harris County record in 1854 showing Zachariah Carpenter belonged to the Grand

The next census of 1870 shows :
