I have found another great tool for those doing genealogical research in
Virginia.
-Virginia Formation Maps

I was doing research in Virginia land patents the other day at the online
site of the Library of Virginia. I had one window on my computer open with
the Virginia Formation Maps and the land patents in another. I was able to
look at the patent while looking at a Virginia county map for that
particular year. It made sense as to why my ancestor bought land in one
county only to sell it in another county later. Enjoy!
