Sue Kaufman from the Clayton Library Genealogy Research Center at 5300
Caroline, Houston, Texas, 77304-6896, 1-832-393-2600, will be the speaker at
the regular monthly meeting of the Angelina County Genealogical Society at 5
P. M. Monday, July 19th, 2010, in the Community Meeting Room of Kurth
Memorial Library, 706 South Raquet Street, Lufkin Texas 75904. Regular
Monday library hours are 9:30 A.M.-7:00 P.M. For more information contact
Cindy McMullen in the Ora McMullen Genealogy Research Room of Kurth Memorial
Library at 1-936-630-0563.
Ms. Kaufman is traveling all 120 miles north from Houston just to tell our
society members and visitors what we can find at Clayton Library and will be
showing attendees how to use the PERSI function of Heritage Quest according
to ACGS Vice-President and Program Chairman Keith Allred of Lufkin.
Heritage Quest is a database of genealogical research material that can be
accessed from home computers with an access code from local libraries who
subscribe to the Texas State Library Texshare web page program.
All society meetings are open to the public and visitors are
encouraged to attend according to Mr. Allred.
This will be the Monday following the 13th Annual Angelina College Genealogy
Conference being held the previous Thursday-Friday-Saturday at Angelina
College in Lufkin, Texas, sources said. Registration information for the
Angelina College Genealogy Conference is available on the college web site
at
http://www.angelina.edu. "So why not attend the conference and extend
your genealogy learning experience by staying over in Lufkin and the East
Texas area until Monday after the conference," society representatives ask?
Society members suggest that library visitors can enjoy a day of research in
the Ora McMullen Room at the Kurth Memorial Library and attend the evening
meeting of the society with Ms. Kaufman as the speaker.
If requested through the Kurth Library Ora McMullen Genealogy Research Room
staff, an ACGS Society member can be available on Monday the 19th to provide
individual help to researchers using the Ora McMullen Genealogy Research
Room
Please help us have a good attendance by passing this message along to
others.
