I descend from the Revolutionary War vet Jeremiah Carpenter of New York. He
was in Renssalear County, moved to Onondaga County ca 1800, and then lived the
last twenty years before he died in rural Erie County, New York. My ancestor
is his son Joseph, who moved to McHenry County Illinois ca 1845. I'm trying
to find all of Joseph's kids, and the easiest way is to search for his son
Jeremiah -- who left Erie County after 1855. I can't find him. I've been
looking at all the Jeremiah's in the censuses around the country in 1860/1870.
I think he might have gone to Wisconsin. Do any of you have Jeremiah's in
this era? I've probably seen them and would be happy to compare notes. My
Jeremiah is married to Eliza and had a daughter named Nancy. And if any of
you are working on the original Jeremiah, I'd be happy to exchange info.
