#2 NEW INFO
Dear Marilyn,
I have your George F. Carpenter. He is George Franklin Carpenter, b. 21
Aug 1823 in Casey or Lincoln County, Kentucky, and died in 1875 in
Texas. His parents are Jacob Carpenter and Leah Frey (daughter of John
Frey who was killed at the Battle of Blue Licks. George married Sarah
Powell (daughter of pioneer doctor and 1 or 2 term member of the
Kentucky legislature) Lindsey Powell. I also have the oldest of 13
children as your Elizabeth Carpenter, b. 10 July 1824, m. 14 August
1844, and d. 26 Jul 1911. Her husband was Willis Montgomery. I have
read about this couple because they went to Texas before Elizabeth's
parents did. I believe Willis was an officer of the law. That info
could be in a manuscript I'm supposed to have. "Sallie" and George F.
were living in Smith County, Tennessee before they went to Texas.
"Sallie" returned to Tennessee following George's death. The second
oldest child in this family is my great grandfather Lindsey Powell
Carpenter. George F. Carpenter's gr-grandfather was George Zimmerman
who migrated from Switzerland before 1740. I am descended from 3 sons
of the immigrant and have studied the family for 20 years.

The first part of Sept. I was in Runnels, Polk Co., Iowa looking for part
of my family on my grandmother's side. I came across several headstones of
Grandpa's also. I have not made a connection, as I have very little on his
side of the family. Even if there is no connection to me, maybe this will
help someone else.

There were several newer headstones also, but time ran out on me. Hope
this helps someone. If so, please let me know so I can see if there is a
connection with my Carpenters.

Hi everyone!
Just finished my vacation in Oklahoma doing genealogical research (what
else?).....and I found an important piece of information about my
gg-grandmother, Elizabeth M. Carpenter! I found a "consent" recorded by
her father, GEORGE F. CARPENTER, giving his permission for her to marry my
gg-grandfather, Willis Green Montgomery, on Sept. 15, 1844 in Lincoln
County, KY. This is the first time I've found the name of either of her
parents. I'm SO excited!!
Does anyone have a GEORGE F. CARPENTER in their files, and if so, do you
show that he had a daughter name Elizabeth M. born in 1824 in Middletown,
Jefferson County, KY? I'd love to hear from you!!
Thank you!
Marilyn Montgomery : )

John, the above is the only version I have. c.a.carpenter gave me the first
Joseph Coles Carpenter. I'm not sure of his current email address. The rest
of the line is on WFT Vol 8, Ped 474. Would you like the address of this
person? It is probably in several other Pedigrees but this is the one I
