Hello, list,
I am looking for ancestors and place of origin, as well as more info
about the descendants of my gggrandfather Leander J. Carpenter, b. 1834;
m. Permelia Howe (b. 1840) in 1856, then migrated by wagon train to
Nebraska in 1856 with three children, two of whom died on the way.
These dates come from a family Bible, which also gives birth dates for
the children but is not always clear on relationships. For instance, a
Royal Carpenter is listed as having died in 1870, but I cannot tell his
relationship to Leander.
Surviving children included Lorinda Parthenia, m. Peter Bowhay and
Lucian. Other names are listed after Lucian's, but it is hard to say
whose children they were.
It would help if there were lists of wagon train passengers (similar to
ships' lists)--does anyone know if these exist?
Any information would be appreciated.
