It's fun to kid a little. I'm afraid I may have started all this trait
comparison. When you look for info on a man as long as my family has for
the background of GGGgrandpa John CARPENTER, b. 1797 in VT, and had no
success, sometimes you are forced to try desperate approaches. So I
wondered if I could find enough people with a CARPENTER ancestor born
within several years of 1797 in VT or Madison Co., NY, I might be able to
come around the long way. So I suggested the bushy eyebrows, which are
huge (in more way than one) in my CARPENTERs, to see if there was a group
like us who might have my info. So far, from what I have read on this list
and know about my own more recent relatives, in all likelihood John had
big, bushy eyebrows, was just under 6' tall with about a 30" inseam, a
fairly substantial nose, some musical talent, a good sense of humor, and
terrific posture (this last one goes back at least 4 generations). Of
course, I don't intend this as a description of old John, but I just hope
maybe it clicks with someone, and I get my information. Any port in a
storm, as they say. Meanwhile, let's keep chuckling, and if you know of
the parentage and/or siblings of old John, please let me know. I will find
him, and within the next 6 months, or I'll throw away my desenex.
