I just checked and I have the "TOES". Please explain the concentric circles
and swirls you are talking about. I copy all of the ancient Carpenter posts
so that when I find my line I can connect it. I just found some information
on my grandfather, Arthur DeVere Carpenter, so I am posting this in the hope
that this family is familiar to one of the Carpenters on this list.
Arthur DeVERE CARPENTER (9/13/1866-8/4/1958) born in Cattaraugus Co., Napoli,
NY, son of Charles and Harriet A. PALMER Carpenter. married Grace MURDOCK
6/18/1890 (1874-196?). Children: DeVere WESTON, Elizabeth BARKER (Mrs.
E.V.D. Corput), Charles SHERWOOD, Arthur BERNARR, Helene BYINGTON (Mrs. A.R.
Van Sant), Harry MURDOCK (my father). Since the children's middle names are
surnames, I am assuming they are family names. Arthur was an ordained
Baptist minister in Dover, DE Plattsburgh, NY, Durango & Dever, state
evangelist for WA, and later, a lecturer/writer for the Chautauqua Assoc.
He delivered lectures in New Zealand, Australia, and Tasmania. He wrote
current science feature articles in young people's publications, and
contributed syndicated paragaphs to newspapers under the title of Star Lore.
This information was found in "Who Was Who in American History 1951-1960" by
Marquis.
