Dear Bruce,
I have an interseting reference to a Nicholas Carpentier in London from
my notebooks and placed it in notes ...
!MISC: Did Siger have a son named Nicholas who had a son named John who
in
1271 lost the tender part of his ear when it was bitten by a horse?
Or was this from another line? Probably from his brother Godwin
(Godefroy)?
Interesting!

The king was abroad that year (1343) and his son Edward, Duke
of Cornwall controlled England.I will keep an eye out for Henry.
This Cornwall and Carpenter connection is more important
than I previously suspected. Cornwall and nearby places
were important stopping off places between London and Gascony, Spain
etc. Don't forget Nicholas le Charpenter of Fowey. We even have his ship'e
name.
He is the earliest Carpenter I could find in the Cornwall area. He had two
brothers Gilbert and Walter.
The three of them also traded in Lincolnshire, had residiences in Spalding.
The Edward le Charpenter group in London cross reference with them.
Nicholas and Gilbert can be found later in London and Nicholas on
Fleetstreet.
