Hi There,
There seems to be a serious misunderstanding here, not
to mention
a grossly self righteous over reaction to my post.
You Said:
" From your own statement above, we see how politically
correct and what type of person you really are, not
who you "believe" yourself to be. Thank you for
showing us your true colors, no pun intended!"
Here's what I have to say to THAT....HUH???
To begin with, I am not a very politically correct
person at all,
and I never attempted to project myself as such. My
remark
regarding political correctness, was meant as a joke,
which the
majority of the list seems to have gotten. I wonder if
their
getting my joke has anything to do with the fact that
they sat
down and read it before jumping to negative conclusions.
A bit of
elaboration on your part would be helpful, because in
the midst of
your tantrum, you failed to explain what you meant or
even why you
felt the need to go into such a tirade. Just what type
of person am
I, and just what type of person do I think myself to be?
That
comment made no sense; your monologue had a distinctly
schizophrenic quality to it, which rendered it decidedly
incomprehensible to say the least. I am not even sure
what you
meant when you referred to my "showing my true colors".
Explain
yourself dear fellow, and please do so intelligently
this time.
Think about what you want to say, before committing
yourself to
another nutty diatribe such as the one to which I am
responding.
You further said:
"You almost had us fooled there for a minute."
What on earth can you possibly mean here? Young man, if
you are
going to indulge in such fits of expostulation, you
really need to
seriously consider carefully what your point is,
assuming you even
know, and then figure out how best to express said
point. If I have
been given the gift of deception I feel I need to know
so that I can
further develop that fine art!
" Political correctness aside (sometimes it's a huge vat
of LYE anyway), race at times can be important in
genealogy just as other information such as location
and dates are."
Well, any genealogist knows this to be true; race,
ethnicity and a
host of other variables are highly important when doing
our kind of
research. My raising the issue of political correctness
was done
flippantly/ in a tongue in cheek manner, and therefore
wasn't meant
to be taken in a serious context at all. You seem to be
the only
one who didn't understand my attempt at slight humor;
why, most
people seem to have just read it and went on to more
important
things. You on the other hand are still pitching a fit
several days
after my message was posted. Have you nothing better to
do with
your time, than just setting looking for things to get
angry about?
You see, most people don't do that sort of thing,
because they
happen to have a life.
" I am sure I am not the only one
researching a "white" ancestor, finding names that
match, maybe the dates are a little off or non
existent, only to find that these are not the persons
I am looking for, also true for those researching
their "black" ancestors."
Quite true, but such is the nature of genealogical
research; it
comes with the territory/ is the nature of the beast, so
to speak.
" The more information we can provide to help other
researchers
the better."
I am afraid that I fail to recall my saying anything to
the
contrary, so please elaborate here, because I am once
again in the
dark as to your point.
"No one said they didn't want "black" family genealogy
here,
or that there is no possibility that we "HAD" black
ancestors just that it would be nice to have that
information."
Again, I don't recall stating any contradiction to this
point.
Moreover, I don't recall voicing any disparaging remarks
regarding
race, ethnicity or anything else of that nature. I do
recall
however, voicing a few facts germane to genealogical
research and
the variables involved therein.
" Oh by the way I don't believe I have ever heard a
person of color say, "Hey, I would prefer that you
call me a "Negroid" !!!"
This is merely a question of semantics dear boy and a
GENEological term. You see, Negroid
is more of a scientific definition, and so is the term
caucasian
for that matter. So, any person of african extraction
very well
may in passing, refer to him/ herself as Negroid, as
would
someone of european extraction might refer to themselves
as
Caucasian. They are both listed on forms issued by our
government
still. So, again, I must ask you what your point is,
because you are
making very little sense at best.
I am generally not disposed to responding to such
juvenile messages
such as yours, but you took the liberty of trying to
reprimand me
in a public forum, and so I had no choice but to reply.
One key
aspect of being an adult, is developing the ability to
think before
opening one's mouth. I highly advise you to do this in
the future,
so as to lessen the possibility of making an ass of
yourself yet
again. You must know, that in the real world, people
aren't
disposed to taking your childish nonsense, so you need
to grow up
and develop some discipline.
Bright Blessings,
CC Carpenter
