Moses Carpenter will
The people of the State of New York, by the Grace of God free and
independent: To all to whom there present shall come, or may concern,
Greeting: Know ye, that at Skaneatele in the County of Onondaga on the
third day of March in the year one thousand Eight hundred and twenty nine,
before Freeborn G Jewett Surrogate of our said county the last will and
testament of Moses Carpenter deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed)
was proven and is now approved and allowed of by us, and the said deceased
having whilst he lives and at the time of his death, goods, chattels or
credit within this State, by means which the pro ing and registering the
said will and granting administration of all and singular the said goods,
chattels and credits and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging
the account thereof doth belong unto us, the administration of all and
singular the good, chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way
concerning his will is granted unto Timothy Brown and David Munro, Executors
in the said will named they bring duly sworn well and faithfully to
administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of
all and singular the said goods chattels and credits, and also to render a
just and true account thereof when there unto required.
In testimony whereof, we have caused the seal of office of our said surrogate
to be hereunto affixed. Witness Freeborn G. Jewett Surrogate of the said
County at Skaneatele the third day of March in the year one thousand eight

The last will and testament of MOSES CARPENTER of the town of Camillus in the
county of Onondaga and state of New York considering the uncertainty of the
mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, Blessed be Almighty God for
the Same, I do make and publish this my last will and testament in name and
form following (that is to say)
First I give and bequeath unto my blooded wife HANNAH CARPENTER one bed and
bedding appertenant to the same and one cow all of which shall be such of the
kind as she shall choose and select for herself from the beds bedding and
stock which I may leave at my death -
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter JOANNAH REED wife of JESSE REED of
the town of Aurelius in the county of Cayuga and to certain of her children
(to wit) JULYA, ANN PERRY, ELISA ANN MOREDOCK, JAMES C. REED, ABIGAIL MARIAH
REED all my right title interest claim and property of in and to Lots Numbers
Seventy three, Seventy four, Eighty four and Eighty five in the Town of
Camillus aforesaid Supposed to contain and extend to two hundred and eighty
one acres on said lots to have and to hold the same unto her the said JOANNAH
REED and the aforementioned children and to their heirs and assigns forever
as tenants in common in equal proportions subject nevertheless to a certain
charge and bequest to the said JOANNAH and the above named children on the
express condition that she and they in order to enjoy the same after my
decease shall maintain and support my said beloved wife HANNAH in a suitable
and proper manner for and during the term of her natural life it is however
expressly declared that the aforesaid bequest of bed and bedding and cow and
her maintenance and support thus charged up the lands described to the said
JOANNAH and the aforementioned children, I do hereby declare that the said
maintenance and support of my said wife shall be and is hereby charged upon
the lands so to the said JOANNAH and the aforementioned children devised is
and shall be in lieu of the said HANNAH's wright of Dower of in and to any
part of my estate,
Item I do give and bequeath to my grand daughter JOANNAH FAY, five dollars
Item I do give and bequeath unto my grand daughter BETSY GARDNER five dollars
Item I do give and bequeath unto my grand children (to wit) SALLY PARDY,
MOSES CARPENTER WEASNOR, JOHN WEASNOR, JELINE WEASNOR, ELISA MALVIN, HENRY
WEASNOR and JAMES WEASNOR JUNIOR one dollar each,
Item I do hereby nominate and appoint TIMOTHY BROWN and DAVID MUNRO of
Camillus aforesaid executors of this my last will and testament
Item I do order that after my decease my said executors shall sell and
dispose of all and singular my good, chattels and personal estate of every
description first however suffering my said wife to select her bed and
bedding and cow, and from the available of such sales they shall pay all and
singular my debts wheresoever and whomsoever due and owing and whatsoever sum
if any shall be left after paying said legacies and said debts they shall
divide into equal parts one of which they shall pay to JOANNAH REED and the
aforementioned children of the said JOANNAH REED and one of which to SUSANNAH
REDMAN and her children and one of which to ABIGAIL MUNRO and her children in
equal proportion
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirty first day
of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight.

Signed, Sealed published and declared by the above named Moses Carpenter to
be his last Will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto
subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator

Onondaga Count Be it remember that on the third day of March in the year 1829
personally appeared before me, Freeborn G. Jewett, Surrogate of the County of
Onondaga aforesaid REUBEN SPALDING one of the Subscribing Witnesses to the
said Will of Moses Carpenter late of the town of Camillus in said County
deceased who being duly sworn declared the he did see the said Moses
Carpenter deceased execute the instrument here-unto annexed which said
instrument purports to be the last Will and testament of the said MOSES
CARPENTER deceased bearing date the thirty first day of March in the one
thousand eight
