I keep reading this material about John b. 1797 in VT to Caleb CARPENTER.
Now I have seen it listed in the 1870 NY census that my John b. 1797 in VT
was actually born in RI. Then I see that Caleb went from RI to VT to NY to
OH. If John was born in RI or VT to Caleb, and they ended up in Chenango
Co., NY, which is the general area where my John lived and raised his
family, then I see a possible major connection. All I don't see is the
delightful young Irish girl, Mary O'CONNOR, who married my John CARPENTER
and lived with him in Madison County, NY, until his death in 1879 at the
age of 82. What is the source of the information about John's marriage to
Miriam Smith? Can this be my guy? Pleeeeeeze??!! What would be the best
way of proceeding to find out?
George
