Hoping to contact someone with extensive proven information regarding a Daniel
Coleman-Jane D Fair marriage. I'm trying to prove or disprove that a Daniel Coleman
married Jane "Dent" Fair in 1817 or later, in Lincoln Co KY. This may have been
a 2nd marriage for either Daniel or Jane. This Jane was the d/o James Montgomery Fair
& Mary Elizabeth May who lived in Hustonville, KY. Her siblings would be William
Montgomery Fair (1807), Rachel Fair (ca 1809) and Mary "Polly" Fair (1800) all
born in KY. Was her middle name "Dent" or could she possibly have been married
before to someone with the surname of Dent?
I find a Jane Coleman on the 1860 Lincoln Co census living in household # 906 next to her
brother, William M Fair, living in household # 907. A husband is not shown; what happened
to him? In this Jane's home are also George W Austin, age 27 (1833 KY), Catherine
Austin, age 37 (1823 KY) and 5 Austin children. Anyone know how this Austin family might
connect to Jane?
According to the book, "Lincoln Co KY," by the Lincoln Co Heritage Society,
Elizabeth May was the d/o Jacob May, Sr & Mary Elizabeth Troyer. James M Fair was
supposedly the s/o Edmund Fair and Silence Montgomery of VA. James M was a minister at the
Reformed Presbyterian Church. James M Fair & Elizabeth May married Aug 1, 1796,
probably in VA.
William M Fair married Naomi Jones; I think Rachel Fair married George Carpenter and Mary
"Polly" Fair married my ggg gfather, Matthew Busby around 1842. I believe Mary
Polly may have been married before to someone named Bingaman/Bingham/etc but no proof.
Matthew & Mary Polly had a daughter in 1843, Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Busby in
Adair Co KY. After Matthew's death in 1843, Mary Polly and Betsy moved back to
Lincoln Co KY and are on the 1850 census. Betsy Ann married Major Samuel Jones ca 1860.
Major was the brother of the above Naomi Jones.
Would like to either prove or disprove any of the above with documentation, if possible.
If necessary, any and all corrections would be welcome.
