the former Vivian Davis, Colgate Avenue, Farmington; father of two
children; employed at Pearl Harbor in rebuilding the Dec. 7, 1941,

RALPH CARPENTER KILLED IN ACTION
Mr. and Mrs. James H. Carpenter, 30625 Moran Street, have received word
from the War Department that their son, Pfc Ralph J. Carpenter, formerly
listed missing in action, was killed in action July 6, 1944, on Saipan.
He had been in service about 1 year prior to that time, and this was his
first engagement since going overseas. A brother, Pfc Howard
Carpenter, is in the Pacific Theatre where he has been for the past
three years. Besides his brother Howard and his parents, Ralph is
survived by hs two children, James and Jean, who make their home with
the Carpenters, a brother, Richard, and two sisters, Loraine and Lois,
all at home.
