Hi Robin,
The information does help, but I need some clarification. According to
what you sent me, the Waverly book has Derrick Albertson married to Dinah
Coles, which seams logical with her daughter named after her. This book
also has Elizabeth Albertson married to Samuel Coles. However the lineage
that I got from John's CE CD has Derrick Albertson, (born Abt 1670 in
Musketa Cove, Glen Cove, LI, NY) married to Elizabeth Coles ( Born Abt
1671 in Glen Cove, Queens, LI) and Elizabeth Albertson (Born March 16,
1669/70 in Musketa Cove, Glen Cove, Queens, LI, Died December 20, 1723)
married to Samuel Coles (born 1668 in Musketa Cove, Glen Cove, Queens,
LI, Died October 7, 1723). I beleve this to be in error, but would
appreciate it if you could conferm this and provide the proper data from
the book. That way John can added this to his change list or addendum.

Hello Jack:
If you don't have it, you will definitely want to get a copy of
"History
of Waverly County NY and Vicinity" by Capt. Charles L. Albertson,
published
by the Waverly Sun in 1943. (Try the Waverly NY Library.) Pages
161-174
are just crammed-full of Albertson genealogy (almost in paragraph
format,
alas), beginning with Hendrick Albertson who settled in Fort Orange
(now
albany) NY in 1642. From there, many of the lines settled in Kings
county
(now Brooklyn), and on Long Island (out near one one of the
Carpenters near
Oyster Bay.
The basic structure form the Waverly book has Derrick Albertson
(of
Albert, of Albert) and Wilmette Rhodes (or Rooles) with four
children; (1)
Derrick m. Dinah Coles, (2) William (1675-1734) m. Barbara Simkins,
(3)
Garrett (? - 1730) m. Abigail _________, and (4) Elizabeth m. Samuel
Coles.
Elizabeth Albertson (b. c1730-33, d. 1799), dau of widow Mary
(Parker)
Albertson (d. Aug 8, 1754) of Cutchogue, married a Nehemiah
Carpenter of
Jamaica in 1750. Mary's will is said to have mentioned land in
Goshen NY
(it is cited in Queens Cty Surrogate Court, but I have never found
it).
Mary's husband had been William Albertson, son of (2) William above,
a
clothing merchant in Riverhead and South Hampton. A brother or
William (d.
3/26/1749), and uncle of Elizabeth, was Daniel Albertson, who moved
to
Orange County (from L.I.) some years earlier (about 1780). He lived
in
Minisink in the 1790s. There was also an uncle Richard in
Newburgh.
Slightly different info is given in "Long Island Genealogies" by
Mary
Powell Bunker. But the basic lines are the same.
A third source is "The Albertson Family of Oyster Bay Long
Island" by
Henry B. Hoff in the NY G&B Record. It cites a marriage of Dinah
Albertson
[dau of Derrick and Dinah (Coles) Albertson] to Benjamin Carpenter
(b. 25
Mar, 1696), saddler, son of Wm and Elizabeth Carpenter. Hoff states
the
children of this union to be Zeno (b. c.1722, m. c.1745 Elizabeth
Thorn),
Ruth, Rosanna, Caleb (b.25 Sep 1736, m. (1) 22 Jul 1759 Amy
Carpenter dau of
John and Hannah Carpenter; m.(2) 15 Sep 1796 Zipporah (Carpenter)
Kipp dau
of John and Charity (Weeks) Carpenter and widow of James Kipp; he d.
30 Dec
1826), and an unnamed daughter.
I also have a one-page copy from "Marriages of L.I. Settlers and
Allied
Families" by Armbruster, listing six Albertson marriages; to
Hinchman,
Conklin, Duryea, Frazer, Peirce and Underhill families (ranging
1761-1865).
Hope some of this helps.
