Hello Lynn:
You're right; Sarah Carpenter (and husband Nathaniel) did indeed die in
Orange County. At page 36 of William J. Coulter's "Records of the Ridgebury
Presbyterian Church...." is a record of "...tombstones on the old farm
between Dolsen Corners (Bradley Corners) and Ridgebury."
Among the inscriptions are listed entries for the burials of both
Nathaniel and Sarah Cooley. One entry says "In memory of Nathaniel
Cooley,------1826 in the 81st year of his age." The other entry says "Died
Nov 2 18-- Sarah wife of Nathaniel Cooley in the 91st year of her age."
Other entries are for "In memory of Jeanete Cooley daughter of Nathaniel
who died Nov 23, 1809, age 1 yr 8 mo. 4 days" and "Mother of Nathaniel &
Sear Cooley who died Sept 23, 1859", and "In memory of Nathaniel Cooley who
died Dec 31 1856 aged 74 years", and "In memory of Jane wife of Nathaniel
Cooley who died Feb 11, 1844 aged 56 years & 4 mo." To the last, someone
added a handwritten note "(Nee Wentworth)."
I hope this helps.
Robin

Hello List,
I am looking for the burial site and/or death dates of Nathaniel
Cooley and his wife Sarah Carpenter. Sarah Carpenter was born in 1745 in or
around Goshen, NY. I'm fairly certain they died in Orange Co., NY.
Any information on this couple would be greatly appreciated. I am
more than willing to share any info I have.
Thank you,
Lyn Magill-Hoch
