PERRY CARPENTER
Perry F. Carpenter, 73, of Ozark, Michigan passed away Thursday, September
20, 2001 at his home.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Naubinway, Michigan on December 7, 1927, the son
of the late Jason and Agnes (Rogers) Carpenter. He graduated from Rudyard
High School in 1946. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War. He worked as a Civil Engineer in the Hiawatha national Forest,
retiring in 1982. He had also been on the Cloverland Electric Board of
Directors. His memberships included AARP, National Association of Retired
Federal Employees, and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Esther (Chromie) Carpenter; two sons, John
Joseph (Cindy) Merlo and David Gerald (Joan) Carpenter both of Sault Ste.
Marie, Mich.; a daughter, Anita Lorraine (George) Gauld of Fife Lake, Mich.;
seven grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Julie Gauld, Glen Gauld, Vickie
Merlo, Angela Carpenter, Jennifer Carpenter, and Robert Perry Carpenter. He
is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pat Carpenter of Howell, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Warren Carpenter
and Merton (Elizabeth) Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 24 at Hovie
Funeral Home with Pastor Chip Jones officiating. Friends may call at the
funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at
the Evergreen Cemetery in Trout Lake, Mich. at a future date.
