Hi, I'm new to the list and new to genealogy so please bear with me. I'm
looking for ancesters of my paternal great-grandmother, and I know very little. Her name
was Francis Iola Carpenter b. 17 Mar. 1869, d. 18 mar, 1950. She's buried in Pine
River Cemetery, Alma, Mich. next to her husband Ernest Leslie Wright.
They had 6 children: Ralph Milo, Seth Roselle, Kenneth Raymond, Leah Fedelia, Myrtle M.,
Eva Cora Naomi.
Her parents were William H. Carpenter b. unk, d. 2 Mar. 1906, and Fedelia Fraker
b. unk, d. 19 Nov. 1869, age 28 yrs. 10 mos. 6 days. She's buried in Pine River
Cemetery, Alma, Mich. Fedelia was aFrench Canadian who came from Nova Scotia. The
couple must have lived in NY for a while. They had a son Thomas E. Carpenter who was born
there (4 July, 1867). He may not have survived infancy as there is no further mention of
him. Francis was only 9 mos. old when her mother died. She was given to Melissa and Seth
Cole of Ithaca, Mich. who raised her, but they never adopted her.
Her father, William H. Carpenter was in the Civil War, Col. 1-11 NY Div(not sure I
have that right!). He died of TB at the Kalamazoo St. Hsptl., Kalamazoo, Mich. age 66
yrs. and is buried in the Veterans' cemetery in Grand Rapids, Mich.
If anyone can add to this admittedly sketchy information I'd sure appreciate
it. Thanks, JoAnn
