Research question: Who are all the children and grandchildren of
Jacob Carpenter (Silas Carpenter4, Silas Carpenter3, William Carpenter2, Richard
Carpenter1), b. 1 NOV 1725, and his wife, Mary Ingraham, both born in Pawtuxet,
Providence, Rhode Island?
Children reported are:
Mary Carpenter was born 10 JUL 1754.
Hannah Carpenter, 13 APR 1756.
John Carpenter, 1 JUL 1757
Were there other children of Jacob and Mary? Who are the sons of Jacob's son John
Carpenter? Could he have had one named Thomas? Where did John settle?
Mary married Daniel Spelman, son of Thomas Spelman. Thomas, with most of his children,
left Coventry, Connecticut in 1752 and settled in East Granville, Massachusetts. The
family became active members of the same church where Justus Rose and his big family were
members. It was the members of this church, including my Amos Carpenter, all the Roses,
the Spelmans and the Barlows who formed a pioneer party and moved to Ohio, where they
started the town of Granville, Ohio and organized a new Congregational Church. (I'm
not sure if Amos was actually a member of the MA church, but definitely a member of the
migrating party.)
Daniel Spelman, a military man, spent years in East Granville but later settled with Mary
in Providence.
My Amos Carpenter married Suzannah Rose, daughter of the above Justus Rose. I'll have
much more of that in a later post.
By the way, all this information can be found on WorldConnect, and the source usually
provided is;

Thank you for any help.
