Anita, I would love a copy. I descend from Thomas Carpenter. Please let me
know what the cost would be for the copies.
Thank you, Catherine H. Tate, Chesapeake, VA

Subject: [CARPENTER] Estate Record of Reuben Carpenter
Estate of Reuben Carpenter
Edgefield County, South Carolina
Box 48 Pack 2066 Year 1842
Estate of Rheuben Carpenter (how name is spelled in record)
listed Rebecca Carpenter as widow of Rheuben Carpenter (1st Jan 1843)
paid her $215 for her share of estate
The residual estate of Reuben Carpenter, decd, was sold and the proceeds
were divided into ninths, distributed to the heirs as follows: Samuel
Butler and wife Jane received a 1/9th share of $62.16; Thomas Carpenter
received the same; Reuben Carpenter, same; James Gray and wife Mary of
Chickasaw Co. MS., same; Samuel Stalnaker and wife Abigail, same; George
Hancock and wife Elizabeth, same; Martha Carpenter, same; Heirs of Ellen
Bardon, Thomas S. and Mary Ann Bardon, same; Heirs of Frances Hill, Mary Ann
and Unity Hill, same.
By some of the receipts in this packet, it would seem Reuben died between
1840 - 1841
Note: Have copies of this estate file (12 pages),
will be more than happy to share, the copies are on 11 x 17 paper
will shrink them so I can scan them and put them on Ancestry
or contact me with request for copies
Thanks
Anita White

Thank You !! for all for your help in finding the "Early Georgia wills,
Lincoln County compiled by Sarah Quinn Smith.
I am going to guess that the person who referenced it in a 1969 article
either knew Sarah was maiden name Green or just made a mistake.
The book by Sarah Q Smith was the one I was looking for. Terry Carpenter
was kind enough to send scans of the pages I sought.
Your time in helping me is so appreciated,
Donna
