Hello John !
Many thanks for your email of Sat., July 2nd.. Sure, we may be interested
in providing a copy of our Carpenter Family Genealogy. Pardon me, but I am
afraid you have me at a bit of a disadvantage. As you may know, there are
many many John Carpenters within the family ( starting with John ca. 1303
London ). As you most likely also know there is the Rehoboth, Mass. ( ours),
Philadelphia, Pa., and the Rhoad Island branch. Which may I ask are you a
descendant ?
Best regards,
Thomas C. Keiper

Is this the Virginia group that matches the Rehoboth group in yDNA, John R?
FYI,
Preston and Lew Carpenter were brothers and American football greats. Lew was also a member of the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project.
They were descendants of Thomas "Jack" Carpenter (born 1740 Virginia and died 1803 in North Carolina).

FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas great Preston Carpenter, who caught a touchdown pass on one of the most famous plays in Razorbacks’ football history, died Thursday. He was 77.
Carpenter lettered at Arkansas from 1953-55 and is remembered for teaming with Buddy Bob Benson for a 66-yard touchdown on “The Powder River Play.” Carpenter’s catch and run was the only score in the 6-0 win against No. 5 Ole Miss in 1954, a season in which coach Bowden Wyatt’s “25 Little Pigs” won the Southwest Conference title.
Benson, who was a long-time coach at Ouachita Baptist University after his Arkansas career, died in April.
Carpenter was a team captain and first-team SWC performer at halfback as a senior in 1955 before going on to enjoy a 12-year professional football career. ...

Born into poverty during the Great Depression, he overcame extraordinary early adversity to make an imprint in the National Football League, where he was graced with a 40-year career as player and coach. Good Morning Helen !
First, please pardon my very long delay in responding to you email of ( Nov.
2000) posted on the internet. I was unaware of it until today. Very recently
I was working on organizing and up dating some of my Carpenter family
genealogical materials and just ran across your email. Am I correct, are
you Helen Lynn Carpenter b.) Nov. 14,19xx, eldest child of Ralph Benjamin,
Jr. and Dolores ( Rodwedder ) Carpenter ? It is my understand that either
you and/or other family members ( your sisters and brother ) are seeking to
obtain a Copy of the 2000' Carpenter Family Genealogy? I recall back in
2000' I was unable to locate you or any of your sisters ( Jacalyn and
Susan ) and brother Robert Ralph Carpenter. I recall and my notes indicate
when I spoke with your Uncle Donald Lansing Carpenter back in 2000' he had
no idea on your where a bouts nor did his sisters or brothers. In any
event, it is my hope that this email reaches either you or someone else (
note: email carbon copied ) whom has connection with you. If you have not
already obtained, I do have several extra unopened copies of the up dated
genealogy here in my home office. It would be my pleasure to forward them
out to you and your siblings.

P.S. A cousin of ours Sara Fell ( Carpenter ) Tiffany, ( eldest daughter
of Uncle Bruce Nelson and Aunt Elsie ( Wipf ) Carpenter ) and I are looking
into doing some genealogical research on the Wilkes Barre, Pa. " Price "
Family. Harriet Price, ( Mrs.) Benjamin G. Carpenter, ll was cousin Sara's
grandmother and our ( yours and my ) great grandmother. Though I was born
after her passed in 1958, it is my understand from cousin Sara and many
others " Granny " and her family were wonderful people :)
Hello,
I remember my ancestor Samuel Carpenter (1741 MA – 1810 PA) who served in the Revolutionary War of Independence from England. He is Number 757 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 135.
Samuel Carpenter was a private in Captain Oliver Capron's company, Colonel Doolittle's regiment, and enlisted July 10, 1775 and served eight months.
He was also on the roll of Captain Oliver Capron's company at Winter Hill on Oct. 6, 1775 in Colonel Emphraim Doolttle's regiment.
We find him again on the roll of Captain Capron's company in Colonel Samuel Ashley's regiment. He enlisted on June 29,1778 and served for five days (discharged 3 July). He received the pay of 15 shillings.
He served and helped win our Independence. I remember him and those that are still serving this Fourth of July weekend!
Remember, Freedom is not Free – It is bought and paid for dearly.
God Bless America!
