** George Carpenter, 2nd Baron Carpenter is RIN 11686 in the CE 2009.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Carpenter,_2nd_Baron_Carpenter
He became 2nd Baron Carpenter of Killaghy on 10 February 1731/32 after his father died.
On 23 May 1733 he inherited the estate of Holme in Dilwyn, Herefordshire, England from his 2nd cousin, Thomas Carpenter. Thomas is RIN 93026.
Thomas Carpenter-93026 and George Carpenter 2nd-11686 are 2nd cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Thomas Carpenter-11682 and Eleanor or Eleanora Lyll-29070.
Thomas Carpenter-11682 was born 11 Oct 1562 at Holme in Dilwyn, Herefordshire, England. He died 1653.
His son, Rev. Richard Carpenter-11683 has the following notes:
Richard whose grandson who died in 1733 left the estate to his second cousin, Lord Carpenter. Page 32. SEE: page 829 of the Carpenter Memorial.
One of the younger sons of this Richard had a son or grandson who was willed 1,000 pounds ($5,000.00) in 1731 by Lord George Carpenter. This person's name, as listed in the will, was Capt. Robert Carpenter, who was a reduced Captain of dragoons on half pay.
Unfortunately, I have yet to trace out properly Rev. Richard Carpenter-11683 lineage and have only speculated at the placement of Robert Carpenter, Capt.-22554.
AND, based on "Richard whose grandson who died in 1733 left the estate to his second cousin, Lord Carpenter" I have the lineage wrong in the CE by going through another son named Thomas and not Richard. <SIGH> Time to figure out why ...
