Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
when I tried to access this, I got "error" messages - it looks as if it should work, but could you check again?

I just looked again and I guess what you are saying that in the will it self
It does not list Daniel as an heir ,only as an executor, Bu t I think Daniel
is son of one of his Daughters?? I do not think I am related to these
Carpenters, Unless they are of The Rehoboth Branch. Most of my Branch stens
from Fleming and Lewis County Ky, My Daniel we do not no where he was born,
He is listed as son of Richard who arroved in Fleming Ky in 1793. I have
this Daniels LWT ,WE belive he was born in Va ?? Bye 4 now.

Hi,
Did I miss something? I don't see where the will ever mentions Daniel
Carpenter as a grandson.
He is not even mentioned in the list of heirs. He was only the executor as
far as I can read.
He could be a brother of Elijah or just a neighbor and no kin at all.

Pat,
THANK YOU ! I am sure that was time consuming to write, but it certainly
explained it to me.
I had been wondering how anyone would know where to check for deeds and
birth records during those years.
I was also wondering if one was born in Litchfield circa 1780, would they
say they were born in CT or PA?
And the same if one were born in Monongolia VA or Westmoreland PA?
I think they planned it all to confuse us, ha!
You were very informative, thank you again,
Donna

I am not sure where I received this info, maybe Goshen Church marriages? or
maybe someone just sent it to me. But here is a VAIL and CARPENTER
marriage:
1 William CARPENTER b: Bet. 1740 - 1761
.. +Hannah VAIL b: Bet. 1740 - 1761 m: 1777 in NY, Orange Co.
Donna Cuzze Carpenter
I just learned something. If I am reading the PA formation map correctly,
there were 2 counties called Westmoreland in Pennsylvania.
In 1773 part of Bedford became Westmoreland County. (Located in SW part of
PA)
In 1774 parts of Northumberland and Northampton Counties (located in NW)
were claimed by CT and called LITCHFIELD.
In 1776 Litchfield was renamed Westmoreland.
In 1782 Westmoreland CT was eliminated and returned to the names
Northumberland and Northampton PA.
Additionally:
In 1776, VIRGINIA created West Augusta County in part of the southwest PA
County of Westmoreland and created YOHOGANIA - MONONGOLIA & OHIO counties
there.
In 1783 to 1786 those counties were eliminated and returned to PA counties
Westmoreland, Washington & Fayette.
Anyone know if that is correct?

Note:
I am posting this abstract of a will of Nathaniel Vail because he is not
mentioned in the Orange Co. will book. I found this on the NEHGS site that is
listing abstracts of some NY wills: Delaware County, it appears, pgs 142 145.
I am interested in the Vails because of their relationship with other
Orange co. families, particularly the Carpenters. Please note that Nathaniel is
apparently not married, but his will shows some relationships.
Here goes:

I have some info on the Texas/Southern line of Samson J. Carpenter b ca
1855 collected by his son Samuel B. Carpenter (my great-grandfather) b
ca. 1886 that I wish to post here. How far down to present do I give
info? It was collected 1932 to 1970s, I have no clue as to how many in
this info are living.
This is the "line formerly known as Benjamin's", so I'm trying to make
public info as accurate as possible. Maybe this line can establish an
accepted starting point since our relation to Benjamin or Benjamin
Samson of Dale Co AL seems in doubt. It includes some info on the
Frenzel and St. Clair families who married into my line. Proper
genealogical proof will not be given, just the info collected by Grampa
Carpenter, but he either knew all included or trusted his brothers and
sisters for the info supplied to him.
Rick
Barb,
No time for an extensive anser, but Daniel Wood seems to be the 2nd husband
of my Mary (McDowell) Thompson who married James Thompson and was the mother
of Mary Thompson who married John Wisner, Jr. John's son, James, m ELIZABETH
CARPENTER, dau of MOSES CARPENTER. MOSES first appears in deeds in Orange
Co. about 1775. I am trying to prove is lineage, AR Carp in Carp Memorial
name his parents as John of Jamaica and Ruth Coe..................Now to answer
your qu re. Wood. Find Popenoe's wonderful web site where he discusses Wood
and many early Or Co families. Please note the Wood/Coe marriage, also, am
wondering if she dould be a sistter to my unproven Ruth. Let's talk...more

I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING MY CARPENTER FAMILY AND THEY CAME FROM THIS
AREA. DO YOU HAVE A DAVID C CARPENTER , MARRIED TO ALMIRA BRUNSON?
CHILDREN- WILLIAM H.,SARAH ANN, PHEOBE, RUBY, EMMELINE ORILLA, AND
ADELINE.
The Vails are an old Dutchess County family. Last I knew, there were still Vails farming there.

Jesse CARPENTER, husband of Sarah Seely/Seeley, bef 19 sep 1755 - Jan 17
1815 in Elmira, Tioga, NY. He and Sarah had 4 children: Joseph, b. 30 Sep
1783, d. 27 May, 1829; Clarissa b. 7 Oct 1785, d. 29 Jan 1873; Jesse, Jr.,
b. 4 Jun 1787, d. 11 Jul 1859; and Hannah, b. 21 Jan 1791, d. 29 Jun 1875.
I believe that Jesse CARPENTER is the son of Joseph CARPENTER 1692 - bef. 20
Dec 1797 of Long Island, NY and Susanna Christina BRADNER, 1713-1809 born
aboard ship from Scotland or Ireland.
Contrary to EDWARDS, William H., Timothy and Rhoda Ogden EDWARDS of
Stockbridge, Mass., And Their Descendants: A Genealogy, Hannah CARPENTER did
not marry David Roe. Her sister Clarissa CARPENTER married David Roe, I
presume before 01 Sep 1804 when the 1st of their 7 children was born.
Their aunt, Hannah Seely/Seeley Cooley, left her niece a bequest in her
will, naming her specifically, "my niece Hannah EDWARDS."
Joseph CARPENTER was said not to have been married, but he may have been
married to an Olive Taylor, or that may be another Joseph CARPENTER
entirely.
Jesse CARPENTER, Jr., was married to Emma Sayre and they had 6 children:
Martha, Jonathan Cooley, Clarissa, William Sayre, Susan E. & another Martha.

Hi, I don't know what you mean by Providence line, I know about the Rehoboth
Line , Is this the same thing. I was told by Jerry and Kaye Carpenter about
the Rehoboth Connection and also from John R Carpenter and a few others, But
did not know they had me listed at all on the DNA site, I am unable to do
the DNA test as I am a Tuttle by Surname and not Carpenter, The article is
about my Great Grandpa and his Father and His Father Daniel Carpenter who is
son of Richard Carpenter who came to Fleming in 1793 .Please let me know
what The Providence line is.
