Hi Folks,
New England His. and Gen. Society has just added abstracts of wills for some
of the counties, dates range from the later 1780s thru 1830s. Folks with
NEHGS membership can access them at their website: nehgs.org. There are too
many Carpenters for me to list here, but will share the information that I
abstracted from some I looked up.

In the 1800, Chester, Windsor county, Vermont census the only
Carpenters are William and Knight. The county gives us Allen, Asa,
Cephas, Ebenezer, James, James Jr,. Rufus, Saxton and Simeon. A search
for Sylvanius Carpenter - all states - all dates, produced no results.

Hooray !
My dad matches EXACTLY on all 37 markers to another Carpenter.
Both of us had "guesstimated" a relationship to REUBEN CARPENTER of SC.
Would love to hear from anyone else who has info on this line:
Unknown CARPENTER of ? who perhaps married Abigail JORDAN ( who married #2
Thomas MOFFAT )
Sons: 1. Reuben c. 1775 SC some of his line went to MS to TX
2. John c. 1774 SC to GA, Lincoln Co.
3. Thomas c. 1780 SC to GA, Lincoln & Henry Co. some of
his line went to AL

Hello,
Off the Carpenter Rootsweb Forum there has been some discussion for the
"Note format" and "Note sections" to be used therein.
Thank you for your patience as we work this out.
I do appreciate all those who have volunteered to help out.
As many of you know, I still work for a living and conduct genealogy part

The German Genealogy Group will hold its next monthly meeting on
Thursday, February 1st at:
Hicksville VFW Hall?Post 3211
320 South Broadway (Route 107)
Hicksville, New York 11801
This month we present the Second Edition of GENEALOGY JEOPARDY. This
fact-filled event will be fun for audience members as well as the two teams
of players,
who will have a chance to confer, then present a response in the form of a
question
before the buzzer sounds. The 12 clue categories include German themes as
well as
varied research topics, which most family-tree climbers have encountered
along their
search from distant roots to local branches.
Hosted by Phyllis Sternemann, a 3 year member of the GGG and researcher who
is currently studying the Waldeck region, and with capable assistance from a
technical producer, judge, timekeeper and scorekeeper, the evening promises
to
be worth the trip out on a cold February night.
An Orientation session for beginners and newcomers will be held at 7 PM and
the
regular meeting will start at 7:30. GGG members and guests will have access
to the
building beginning at 6:30 PM.
Among the many benefits of membership are a newsletter published ten times a
year,
a database of surnames, a free translation service, a book and CD lending
library,
interesting guest speakers at the meetings, mentoring, a start-up kit of
helpful

I am searching for information on Charles L. Carpenter, born in Kansas 1900.
I am not sure of his mother's name, but his father was John W. Carpenter
born in IN. 1866. Charles had two sister, one was my grandmother Pearl Marie
born 1903 Erie, KA, Neosho Co. , Vera A. born 1898 KA. There may have been
another sister Mabel also born in KA. 1906. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Patty
Hello Rick,
Sorry I did not see your post sooner but I get the Digest mode.
I am still awaiting the rest of the markers but the one (21005) that matched
all 12 markers may be a good match. I had suspected that my Thomas was a
brother of Reuben & John of Edgefield SC. The DNA match (21005) believes
their line came from Reuben of Edgefield SC.
I hope this will connect.

It is so great to read your explanations, John. This science is confusing
and so you bring it down to when we can understand it better. I appreciate

Donna,
Can you tell us who are your exact and 11-out-of-12 matches, and how
has that helped you -- or how will that help you -- in your research? I
have someone in my family who has done the dna thingie and the results
have not seemed to help one bit.

John, When you get down to the Christopher Carpenter, born 13 Aug. 1835, d:
28 Apr 1910, married Clarissa Whitmore, I would be happy to add any new
notes I have entered, as well as check for accuracy, I could then go back up the
line as needed to connect to where others have entered information.
Keep up the good work and I look forward to the new CD John Proctor
