NY Quaker CARPENTERs Kesia(h) (m. BAKER), Kezia (m. FARRINGTON) & Hannah (m. BAKER)
by Annamarie Hessman (Aine Maire Hesnan/hEisleanain)
Greetings Carpenter Researchers,
My gggggggrandmother Kesiah BAKER nee CARPENTER was born 18 SEP 1707, most
likely either in White Plains, NY (given the date and her
European-American ethnicity I think a birth in WestChester County is
unlikely, although certain sources imply it) or Musketa Cove, NY.
Kesiah married Samuel BAKER ca. 1724. Kesiah & Samuel were Quakers. She
had at least 3 children with him: Ephraim, Albert and Samuel. In Quaker
records I also found a Kezia FARRINGTON nee BAKER who was married in the
right place and date to have been Kezia BAKER nee CARPENTER's daughter.
Samuel BAKER's & Kesiah BAKER (nee CARPENTER)'s son Ephraim married a
Hannah CARPENTER in 1741 in Purchase, NY. I believe this Hannah could
very probably have been a cousin to her new mother-in-law.
Samuel BAKER's & Kesiah BAKER (nee CARPENTER)'s son Samuel married Mary
Anne Palmer (this is my ancestral line) 15th of 11th mo., 1758 in
Harrison/Purchase, NY.
I have looked through some CARPENTER genealogies without successfully
locating Keziah's parents. I wrote down some possible parents for her
based on intuition, locations, and naming patterns: Nathaniel CARPENTER
and his wife Tamar COLES; William CARPENTER and his wife Elizabeth. Right
place, right time, family names fit.
Does anyone recognize Keziah? Can anyone confirm or deny my Keziah's
parentage? I have research yet to do, but it would be a great turbo boost
to find others who have done some work on her.
Thanks in advance,
Annamarie
