Ruben CARPENTER built the first mill in Audubon County Iowa in 1856. It
was located along Troublesome Creek. It is sometimes refered to as the
OLD BIRGE (BERGE) PLACE.
Does anyone have information on this mill?
Or the people involved.
Thanks for any input you can give.

Hi,
I wonder if anybody knows if the three Carpenter brothers that appeared
in VA in the 1740's could have been related to the Carpenter's on Long
Island. Also, where is Musketa Cove? I'm guessing it is somewhere
around Oyster Bay. I also would like to know how to access John L.
Carpenter's website.
Thanks so much!
Lynn
Hello, Could you give me the address to John L's "Website" I am working on the

Dear all:
Several months ago I began researching Isaac Carpenter of Halifax, NC (RS) b.
1764. Terry Carpenter, a Carpenter researcher, was very gracious and shared
with me the what info he had on Isaac and his brother, William Carpenter. An
article on this subject was published in the National Genealogical Society
Quarterly, Vol. 73, No. 3 (Sep 1985, pp 207-211) and has a great discussion of
the possibility Isaac being related to the Carpenter's in Cornwall through Dr.
Nathaniel Carpenter who migrated to VA and had four children. However, Isaac
can't be the son of Dr. Nathaniel Carpenter's known sons -- Coryndon, William
Fauntleroy (killed in duel in Hyde Park), Nathaniel, and Bushrod. What adds
to the mystery is that a William Fauntleroy Carpenter is supposedly buried in
Orange County, NC.
Terry's supposition is that Isaac's father, who is probably William Carpenter,
was a son of a previous marriage of Nathaniel Carpenter. I also think that a
possibility could be that William was a brother of Dr. Nathaniel, but there is
no record of that in Cornwall that I know of.
If anyone has any info on this or other possibilities, please contact me as I
am starting to beat my head against the wall.
Thanks for your help.

Steve,
According to what I read at John L. Carpenter's web site, this Thomas may be
#229 Thomas "Jack" Carpenter (b ca 1740 Botetourt Co VA, d 6 Aug 1802 Nash
Co NC) who married Mary Lee, daughter of James Lee and wife Frances --?--.
According to John L.'s web site, #229 Thomas was the son of #110 Solomon
Carpenter (b ca 1714 Musketa Cove, Long Island NY, d ca 1783 Bototeourt Co
VA) who married ca 1740 VA to Sudna/Sudrah Hughes, daughter of William
Hughes and wife Mary Withers. Nash Co at present borders Johnston Co, in NC.
I am desparately looking for a Benjamin Carpenter (b ca 1770-80 <SC/NC?>, d
aft ca 1837 <AL?>) who married Millie --?--. Benjamin and Millie lived in SC
before moving ca 1820 to Dale/Coffee Cos AL. #229 Thomas Carpenter was
supposed to have had a son Benjamin (b ca 1772 Nash Co NC), but I cannot
link that Benjamin with mine, though the birth dates are similar. Some of
#229 Thomas's children ended up in SC, with one son Rueben living in
Edgefield Co. One of my Benjamin's sons, William Bailey, may have been born
in Burke Co GA, which is very close to Edgefield Co SC. There were a Bailey
Carpenter Sr. and Bailey Carpenter Jr. in Burke Co in the 1780s-90s. I am
guessing Bailey Sr. was a brother to my Benjamin. John L. lists no Baileys
in the children of #229 Thomas.

Hi folks,
I've enjoyed reading the postings on the Carpenter list for a few months,
and I decided to seek your help!!! I'm trying to find the parents of my
Great-Great Grandfather John Deskin Carpenter. I know that he was born in
1817 someplace in VA. In the 1830's he married Mary Ann (Polly) Romine. They
had several children (Jacob, John, James, Francis Reed, Wright Bailey,
Charles F., Isaac Arthur, Sally, and Mary Hester) Most of their married life
they lived in either Clarksburg (Harrison County) WV or Jackson County, WV.
I also know that the 4 oldest sons enlisted in Jackson's Raiders (a
confederate cavalry unit). I've been able to trace relatives down through most
of these lines, but I've never been able to determine who John Deskin's parents
were...and where they were from.
I'll gladly share my research if anyone has connections to the above
named family. I hope that someone can help me out with my puzzle!!!
Thanks!

Looking for Parents of Andrew J. CARPENTER, b 1872. Some census records indicate
he was born in TN, other records say KY. He claimed to be from Hopkins Co, KY,
but in another instance, Christian Co., KY. I was wondering if he was b TN,
since I cannot find him on the 1880 Census. He would have been seven or eight
years old at the time. He was married by 1900. His death certificate lists his
mother as Mary Jane FRANCES.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Everyone,
I'm seeking information on Albion B Carpenter who lived in Fort Lauderdale in
1947, moved from Abington, Mass. (born 1876). His daughter, Lillian
(Carpenter) Moores, also lived in Fort Lauderdale at the same time.
Albion is a brother to Orlando Carpenter, my grandfather, who I'm trying to
find.
Does anyone know any of thesee people or their relatives?
Thank You,
Preston Carpenter
I am looking for any information regarding the family of Matilda Susan
Carpenter. She is the daughter of John and Frances (Smith) Carpenter. It
has been said she was born in Cabell County, West Virginia and grew up in
Putnam County. She is found in 1870 Cabell County Census with her parents
and her sisters Fannie, Mahaley. From previous census her father was listed
to be born around 1802 and mother around 1819. This family has been found
in 1850 Mason county, 1870 Cabell. I cannot find this family in the 1880
Cabell county census. I would like to especially know more about John and
Frances.
I am trying to get in touch with Gregory A. Carpenter who until recently
lived on Old Belfair Highway in Belfair, WA. We are both descended from
Michael CARPENTER of Stepstone, Bath Co, KY.
