Dear Carpenter List,
Am seeking information on the husband and his relatives of
Carrie KNAGGS CARPENTER, died at age 27 about January 22 1907 in
Kearney, Buffalo Co, Nebraska. She was a half sister to my
grandfather James Edwin KNAGGS. Her father was mayor of
Kearney in 1913; his name was William Henry KNAGGS. Carrie
died of asphyxia and was buried in the Kearney cemetery. I would
like to determine the circumstances of her death and find out if
she had any children and who her husband's family was.

Would you happen to have any info on a Sarah Minerva CARPENTER, b. abt 1834;
d. Sept. 4, 1911 Elbridge, Onondaga, N.Y.; m. Milton Whitney WHEELER, b. June
4, 1832 Elbridge; d. Apr. 22, 1870 Elbridge.
Thanks.

Clark,
I checked the A.B. carpenter book for all listed Sarah M's, Minervas, for
Milton Whitney Wheeler, and for Elbridge, NY and did not find your Sarah.
However; I followed JOHN, the hopefully identified brother of my proven MOSES
(as given in my Carpenter e-mail - please refer back). This John # 300 AB
Carpenter Memorial was in Goshn, NY Or. Co., also, and later went to Onondaga
Co. too. He had a couple sons who also went to Onondaga Co. N.Y.
Names: J0HN COE m Sally Mead, (had a couple ch), 2nd Hannah Babcock, had a son
Sands. John Coe d. 1833 Following his sons: Benjamin and (family # 313) and
John Coe (Jr.) family no. 312 I do not find a Minerva. John # 300 also had a
son Isaac who went to Utica and then NYC; there are no Sarahs listed for him.
FOLLOWING THIS JOHN, THRU HIS LISTED GRANDCHILDREN I DIDN'T FIND HER.
Following My MOSES's (apparent brother, Isaac, I find no sons to carry forth
the Carpenter name!)
according to the book, my Moses also had two other brothers Benjamin and
Daniel whom apparently stayed in Or. Co. Ny.
This book is a monumental undertaking and has many other listed families rom
William of Rehoboth. The families were established in RI,CN,MA, NY and had
many descendants, many of whom went to NY.
I would be happy to copy the pages of the above referenced Carpenters or if
you could give me the names of Sarah Minerva's children perhaps we could be
some better clues to work back with. (There are many, many Sarahs in the ook
that I did not look up, but no other Sarah Ms.)
Also you ought to check with John Carpenter who is collecting and sharing
information re. all Carpenters for his CD which he intends to release in 2000.
His e-mail address is jrcrin001(a)juno.com
He frequently makes comments on the CARPENTER-L

To all Carpenter Family Genealogists - HELP! This is my husband's grandfather
and I only very limited information about him. He was born I believe in
Russelville, Alabama, and his father may have been Fredrick and had a brother
named Bob. On June 9, 1898, Joshua married Lula Andrews in Jonesboro,
Arkansas. Joshua died in October 1923. His sons were Earl, Ira, J.C., and
Bob Carpenter. His daughters were Dorothy, Opal and Eula Faye. From his
first marriage he had a daughter named Lola Josephine Carpenter who was born
June 12, 1894 at Jonesboro, AK. I am wondering if his middle name might have
been Charles since this is the first name of my husband's father but he was
always called Earl.
I found another Carpenter listed on FTM who had two middle names of Ira in the
family and wonder if perhaps this might have been a family Carpenter name. I
have no family Bibles or records to begin to look for family. Any help you
might have would be greatly appreciated. I would like our two sons to know a
little more about their Carpenter heritage, if it is at all possible. I hope
to hear from some of the other Carpenter families. Thank you for reading
this. Gloria Carpenter (Mrs. Cloyd J. Carpenter)

Hello Carpenter Researchers:
Where are you?? I have been looking for you folks and nobody responds. Are
you not there or do you have all the information you need?
I have abstracted Or. Co. Deeds vol a-g (17th and 18th century) and the Or Co.
mortgages for all Carpenters I could read (Vol C very poor condition, very
difficult to find all) and would be happy to share with you any that you might
find helpful.
I have seen both Seversmith LI re. Carpenters and also first few chapters of
Soloman Carpenter book, as well as the classic Or. Co. History books, NY wills
CD, Or. Wills books, Ul Co. wills book, and the Source Documents of LI, as
well as AB Carpenter.
My personal mission is to try to determine the validity of AB Carpenter's John
of LI lines, particularly John who was reportedly married to Ruth Coe (cannot
find this source) of Jamaica.
My ancestor is Moses Carpenter who married 1. Elizabeth Runyon about 1774 and
2nd. Hannah Smith, dau of Henry. According to A.B. Carpenter there was
correspondence between John and Isaac re. regarding their niece, Joanne
marriage in Onondaga Co. Moses did have a dau. Joanne and he did move to
Onondaga Co., as did his son in law, James Wisner, also of Or Co and the
husband of Elizabeth (Runyon) Carpenter, my line.
Will do lookups for these Carpenters.

Dear John,
Saw your message and would like to ask a question. Did your Carpenters come
from Goschen, Orange County, NY?

Phoebe -- I descend from a Johanna Carpenter born ca 1816 in Onondaga County,
NY. However, she was the daughter of Joseph Carpenter, probable son of
Jeremiah Carpenter -- Rev War vet. Most, if not all, of these Carpenters left
for Erie County, NY in the 1820's. I'm always looking for people that might
intersect. I've copied a lot of the Onondaga Cemetery references to early
Carpenters in case that would help with any questions you or someone else on
the Carpenter list would have.

Hi,
Well it couldn't hurt any! Yes, we need to find some Perrys out there. Since
my hunting for Hiram's parents has been over 20 years I am willing to try
anything.
Certainly going back to previous census records and looking at every
Carpenter family and will look for related families, now to include Perrys.

Need information on Alexander CARPENTER and his ancestors. He was born
abt 1560 and was from Wrentham, Somerset Co, England and apparently died
abt 1612 Leyden, Holland, Netherlands. Did he marry Priscilla DILLEN -- I
descend from his daughter, Alice through her second husband, Governor William
Bradford.
Would appreciate anything on the ancestor of Alexander or the ancestor of
his
wife, DILLEN. RuthThoden(a)aol.com
Did your Carpenter have descendants that moved to SC? If so, I have some
information on a Carpenter that I am looking for, I can not seem to find out
where he came from.

Family 1: Willis G. (?) "Thomas" MONTGOMERY
MARRIAGE: 15 Sep 1844, Lincoln County, Kentucky
Lindsey Pascal Carpenter MONTGOMERY
Margaret (Margarite) MONTGOMERY
William "Willie" MONTGOMERY
Willis supposedly died around 1862, but we haven't been able to find out
how, where, and when exactly. I haven't been able to locate any trace of
him or their family group on any census record, but I did locate their
marriage record. Elizabeth and the children reportedly moved to Arkansas
following Willis' death, then in 1892, she made the run into Oklahoma and
staked out 160 acres near the Foss River, in a spot which is now under Foss
Lake. She is buried in the Edwardsville (Oklahoma) Cemetery (which was
originally located in Edwardsville, but was later moved to Canute when the
Foss Dam was built about 40 years ago). Her son LPC and his wife Suzie Key
are also buried there.
Thank you!

Does anyone have any ancestry information on a Jacob Carpenter, who was
born abt 1807 in Virginia. He married Barbara Ann Coss on December 30,
1832, and they resided in Independence Twp, Washington County, Marietta,
Ohio. They had eight children. Their son Elisha is my ggg-grandfather.
If anyone has any information on Jacob's ancestors and/or siblings, I
would be willing to exchange information with you on his decendants of
whom I have quite a bit of information.
