Hello,
I'm still trying to find Welcome Lawrence Carpenter b. 1868
d. 1955 in Rome, NY. married abt. 1891 in Stittsville, NY to
Alida Elizabeth Chesebro b. August 21, 1874 in
Oriskany Falls, NY d. June 23, 1920 in Rome, NY. They are
buried in Wright Settlement Cemetary in Floyd, NY. In the
Chesebro bible, it stated that Welcome's father is
David C. Carpenter b. June 24, 1831 d. September 05, 1898
in Rome, NY. and David's wife was Lovina J. <unknown>
b. 1841 d. 1911. According to the Chesebro bible, it states
a brother to Welcome, George Chauncey Carpenter and a
sister named unknown.
This is the 1st break with this mysterious man in 2 years! And
to believe that this bible was in storage of my aunt's!
If any of this sounds familar to anyone, please email me. :)
Many thanks,
Betty Carpenter-McCulloch

Subject: Jeremiah/Theodore PA-NE
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII
In a newspaper article from abt. 1915, I found the children of Jeremiah:
H. F. (Los Angeles); Theodore (Beatrice, NE); M. L. (probably Martin
L.--8/20/1854-2/24/1932 Beatrice); Levi (Lee), (Polo IL); John (Liberty,
NE); and J. D. (Rockford, NE).
It stated that Jeremiah came to NE in 1882 from PA and is now 97 yrs. old
and lives at his home in Ellis. (so his birth date would be around 1818).
The article also states that when Jeremiah Carpenter's father came to
this country from Germany his name was Zimmerman, but at the time of his
marriage he took the name of his wife, Carpenter. (which is curious,
since I thought Zimmerman was German for Carpenter???).
I think that Theodore's descendents might be mostly in Colorado, and I
think there may be a family connection to Charles William Greening of ILL
and NE.
Apologies to anyone tired of reading about Theodore & Jeremiah, but my
cousin, Chuck in Oregon, and I in Arkansas really appreciate all the
responses we've gotten--we're getting closer!

Hi--I show a Jeremiah Murry CARPENTER in my data base, b. 1818 in Hamilton's
Mills, Westmoreland Co., PA, m. to Ellen McFadden "of " West Middletown,
Westmoreland Co., PA. They had six children and moved to OH. If you think this
is your family, I have his ancestry back to Henry (Zimmerman) CARPENTER.
Marilyn
PS We have a new little CARPENTER granddaughter! Seven weeks old today.
Noticed on GNIS map there are 3 CARPENTER cemeteries in KTY.
1. Breathitt Co. near Gauge
2. Garrard Co. near Paint Lick
3. Morgan Co. near WestLincoln
Anybody have any data on the residents of these cemeteries?

In the 1850 Mason County IL census, a Louisa B. CARPENTER aged 81 b. VA
resides with a George W. CARPENTER b. 1805 in (probably Knox County)
Tennessee. George's father, Abner b. abt. 1782 in VA, was still alive,
married and living in Mason County with his second wife (not George's mother)
and four of Abner's children (all of whom were b. in Overton Co. TN). Can
anyone speculate as to who this Louisa might be? Does anyone have her in
their database? George later moved to the NE/KS/MO area. Are any of his
descendants recipients of this list?

Carpenter, Theodore, enl. Oct. 20, 1862, 177th Regt.; re-enl. Sept. 6,
1864, 8th Art. (Assume Army of the Potomac)
was from North Greenbrush, New York. Does anyone have any data on
descendents, siblings, or his father, who could be Jeremiah from Pennsylvania?
If this is the Theodore we're searching for, his dates are 8/16/1844 -
4/11/1925, and he married Rebecca Missouri Burke.
The quest continues . . .
I have been searching for Paul H. Walter last known address Saratota Springs,
NY
A letter addressed was returned with no reason stated.
He is descendent of Merritt Carpenter who was a brother to my grandfather born
in the Buskirk/Hoosick area of Rensselaer County. The Carpenters were in the
area some200 plus years. Originally from Rehoboth RI.
If anyone has any information about Paul H. Walter please forward to me. When
I
heard about him - I had found a cousin that I never had before.

Does anyone know of web sites, listserves, etc. where a person could do
searches for biological parents. A friend's mom was adopted and is trying
to find info on her real parents. I know there are lots of legal aspects
to consider, but does anyone have any info on what's out there to help in
this type of search?
Thanks, Mary
