Pat,
I am searching for Larkin (en) Carpenter who, according to his daughter's
death certificate, was born in Tennessee. He married Mary Jane Wright,
also born in Tennessee (date ?). They had three children: Cora Stu b.
1883 TN d. 1922, married David L. Saunders; Dora, married an Anderson, who
died rather young I am told, then a Phillips, d. Bochita, OK; Silas, of who
I know nothing.
Larkin, according to family tales, died in a train station either in
Heneritta, TX or Heneritta, OK.
Larkin is my G-grandfather. His daughter Cora was my grandmother.
In advance I thank you.

Pat,
I am searching for a Benjamin Carpenter (born ca 1770-1780 or so, died
after 1836 in Alabama). Most records indicate he was born in SC (with one
note that he was born in NC), but I really think a NC origin is more
likely. In corresponding with other Carpenter researchers, some have
indicated that he may have been from the Nash/Edgecombe Cos area of NC and
from the Southside area of VA before that, but they and I have not been
able to come up with any solid proof. He and wife Millie and family were in
SC by early 1800s where most of their children were born, and then to
southeastern Alabama by the 1820s. Benjamin's son Sampson A. Carpenter
married Nancy Mayberry. Some Mabrys from Union Co SC went to Alabama with
the Carpenters, but I haven't been able to prove a connection between the
Union Co Mabrys and my Nancy Mayberry. I do know that the Mabrys were from
Southside Virginia (Surry Co), and went through Warren Co NC (which is near
Nash Co NC) and Old Rowan Co NC ( a huge old county covering all of
northwestern NC) before settling in Union Co SC. I suspect the same
migration path for my Carpenters. I have all but given up on a Pennsylvania
Swiss German Zimmerman/Carpenter origin for my line, though there are some
of these people buried in the York/Cherokee Cos area of SC, which is also
near Union Co SC. But the possible Mabry connection for my Nancy Mayberry
makes a Southside VA to Nash/Edgecombe Cos NC origin more likely.
Anything at all would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick

spouse, etc? Obviously, it doesn't work the way I have it:

Hi all!
Does anyone have the decendants of Capt. Nathan Carpenter b. 1757 Rehoboth, m.
Irene Reid and died 9 Sept 1814, Delaware County, OH?
Some of the first generation was given in a county history book but interested
in the later generations. Is he in "THE" Carpenter book?
Thanks for your help,

Hi all!
In my search for George Carpenter who married Rebecca CLOW in Harrison County,
OH I came across this War of 1812 veteran.
George Carpenter, WC-5131, m. 25 Aug 1808 Fairfield Cty OH to Barbara Ann
Wilson, soldier died 30 Nov 1859 Henry County, OH, served David Ewing's OH
militia, lived Henry County.
"My" George Carpenter's estate was in probate in Putnam County, OH in January
of 1860. George died at the home of Azor Bunyan (son in law)in Putnam County
(in a township next to Henry County). A will (or estate) had been file
previously in Ashland County by another son in law, so the proceedings in
Putnam County were dropped. I have more on this "incident" if anyone is
interested.
Does anyone have the George Carpenter, husband of Barbara Ann, pension papers?
Thanks,
Betsy McGee Rice
