Howdy y'all! :)
Looking for any info on Welcome Carpenter. He's my ggrandfather. I have absolutely no info on him except his name and that his wife's name was Alida *smirk*. My grandfather's name is Milton Carpenter b May 13, 1910 and his siblings were Howard, Bird, Zada, Catherine, Arch, & Lena. Howard and Milton married Caroline and Phyllis Falcone.
Any info would be great!

Hi Carpenter Cousins,
I'm forwarding the message below posted by a cousin of mine on the Green
surname list.
I just downloaded and tried out this program by typing in" Carpenter

Well, I have to concur with Sue, amazing!
Hey, it's free, easy to install, and it works!

"Hi Folks!
Just found out about a new search engine, was so impressed that I had to
pass the info along to you people.
Its called WebFerret, absolutely fantastic!!! It searches all the search
engines, fast, and whats really neat is that when you put your cursor on
the listed web site, a box pops up that gives you a synopsis of what the
web site contains.
The amount of info it turns up is mind boggling. I typed in the search
parameter of "Charles Greene Genealogy" and it turned up some 300+ web
sites containing these words.
ANyway, it is a freedownload, go to http://www.netcent.com/ferretsoft/
You may want to read about it before installing, and there is a FAQ area.

Carolyn, I have a couple of Marion Carpenters but I don't think they are the
same family. I have a Marion Ernest born 1870. One of his children was
Marion Scott. I have little to no detail on the family. It is the line of
Scott Carpenter the astronaut.
The Carpenter family that I am researching is:
Juliana Carpenter b. bef 17 Mar 1584 in Wyrington, Somerset, England and
d. 19 Feb 1664 in Plymouth. MA. She married 23 Jul 1612 in Leyden,
Netherlands to George Morton b. 2 Aug 1585 in Harworth, Yorkshire,
England and d. 1624 in Plymouth, MA.
I have extensive information from the Carpenter Book and it is
computerized. Will be willing to share information in printed or GEDCOM
form.
Hi Robert,
Thank you very much for the information. It sounds like you have many years
of Carpenters under your belt. Is it likely that my Chester Capenter was
German? He was a Baptist minister and I thought he was probably English.
Chester could be either I suppose. His only son was named Milton. Ken told
me he found tax lists that showed a Chester Carpenter in Knox County, TN in
1799 and in Warren County, TN in 1810. I have definitely located Chester in
Trigg, Muhlenberg and Christian Counties, KY in 1816-1819. That is the
earliest I have found him. I am dubious about the 1799 record because
Chester would have been only 14 unless his birthdate is wrong.
I do not have anything to add on William Carpenter. There are no Williams in
Chester's family. Milton named his sons, Milton, Jr., Chester, Flavius, John
and Christopher Columbus. Quite a collection. His daughters were Elizabeth,
Josephine and Oregon. Very trendy. Sorry that I don't have anything more to
add to your knowledge. Do you think your book might be useful to me?

Hi! Vickie,
I hope you are doing research in Okla. You mentioned Le Fore County, would
you have access to Le Fore County death records? I am trying to find records
of where Irma Ward Valentine Simmons and her husband Albert Simmons are
buried. They must have died after 1952, for they visited with my parents in
Broken Bow, Okla after my Grandmother passed away in Nov. 1952.
I thought the Simmons lived in LeFore, Okla. one of my sisters thinks maybe
McCurtain, Okla.
Irma was the daughter of Nancy Ellyn Carpenter and her husband George Redden
Ward.
I found George Redden and Nancy Ellyn Carpenter on the Pike County Census in
1880. Please help if you can.
Thanks,
Doris E. Williams
Bob--I just returned from Salt lake City wehre I spent the better part of a
day using your book, Carpenters A'Plenty. I just wanted to say how impressed
I was with your vast undertaking! It was very well done! Unfortunately, as
you know from my son-in-law's cousin, Ken, better known as BULLDOG, it didn't
help us a whole lot on that line, (Owen, NC>GA>MS>TX>) but I am also a PA
Carpenter /Zimmerman by birth, something I just found out. I thought you
might be interested in the story.
Four TOTTEN cousins and I have been trying to find Esther Carpenter for four
years. She married John JACK(s) (Maj) in 1776 and their daughter was born in
Morristown, NJ. Apparently he was with Washington's Army there. John
subsequently died and Esther married a Daniel BURNETT from Orange County. As
I am sure you know from working with the OC Carpenters, there are a-plenty,
and we spent many hours and dollars up there* trying to find Esther's maiden
name and parents. (We finally got her maiden name from the Jacks Family
Newsletter.)
Well, one day I was "taking a break" at the PA Hist. Soc. and decided to read
up on a little Lancaster Co., PA history as I had heard John Jacks was from
there. Much to my amazement, there was Zimmerman/Carpenter! And I should have
known that, having living a few years in Germany!
I have found four Esthers in that family, two married, two not. One of the
nots left a will. I believe that my Esther was the other "not", disowned by
her pacifist family for running away and marrying a military man. I have no
documentation as yet, just theory, but am following up at the Lancaster
County Courthouse.
I heard that someone was putting together a book on this Lancaster Co.
(Heinrich's family) family. Do you know who it might be? I would like to
contribute what I have found to it.
I just wanted to say, again, how I impressed I am with your book

Hello Carpenters,
My mother ran across this information a couple of days ago and I wanted to share. At this time I don't know of a connection for my line but I can always hope and in the mean time maybe it will be for some of you.

Dear Bosten Carpenter researcher,
I located a Bastian Zimmerman who served in the Revolutionary War from North
Carolina. I have not located where he was in NC. In 1790 Pendleton Dist.,
SC he was with a William Carpenter. This is actually a person who resided in
Tryon (now Lincoln) County, NC from about 1764-1777 or so. His name is
variously given as John Wooling, Hans Ulrich, Wabrig, Woolrich, William
Zimmerman or Carpenter. I do not know how he relates to the other
Carpenter/Zimmermans from the Lincoln Co. area but feel certain that he does.
I also feel certain that Bastian is also related. I just do not know how
now.
My Zimmermans arrived in America on the Pink Plaisance in 1732. They lived
in Cocalico Township, Lancaster Co., Pa until in the middle or early 1750's
when they moved into NC. Immigrants on the ship included a Bastian Zimmerman
and a Ulrich Zimmerman. Ulrich died in 1738 in Pa. Bastian was never
located in Pa. and would be too old for your Bastian but could be a father.
Do you have any information about the William Carpenter. You can tell he is
a German because he signed his name with a "VZ" mark.
I am sorry that I cannot make the connection for you but feel certain that
your Bastian fits in with my family somehow. I printed a book, CARPENTERS A
PLENTY, some years ago about these families. At that time I only knew that
this Bastian served in the Revolution and did not know about his connection
with William, Woolrich "VZ" Carpenter.
I wish you luck. You also need to know that Yelverton Carpenter of Hawkins
Co., Tenn. was married in the 1790's in Pendleton Dist. SC. I suspect that
he is somehow related to the William and Bastian.
Let me hear from you.
Sincerely,
Robert Carpenter

Dear Carpenters,
I have tried for about 20 years to find any information on my Great Great Grandparents who
were Polly Odom (born in 1854 in Tennessee) and W. I. or W. L. Carpenter (born about 1850
in North Carolina). They had one son, George Wilburn Carpenter (born Jan. 30, 1884 and died
Oct. 14, 1918). Polly Odom and her son, George Wilburn were listed in the 1900 Fannin County,
Georgia Census. W. I. or W. L. had died before the 1900 census.
If anyone has any Carpenters and Odoms in their family tree, please contact me at my e-mail
address: jry(a)ellijay.com
Thanks.
