This is particularly intriguing because of the mention of the Burlington, KS
location. Burlington is in Coffey County, where my Carothers settled in 1857.
Jacob and Lovina (Hougham) Carothers moved from DeWitt County, IL; their
children who lived to adulthood were Mary, Martha, Sarah and Jennie. I know
of only one other Carothers family in Coffey County, KS, John Carothers, and
I don't know of his connection to my Carothers family.
