Mrs. Nancy Ann Carothers, aged 86 years, one of the oldest, best known
and most highly respected resdents of the Bellebridge district, Lincoln
township, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Catherine Stevick,
117 East Fifteenth Street, Homestead, Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock
of heart disease. She was the widow of W. H. (William Henry) Carothers
who died in 1912. She was born at Defiance, Pa., January 15, 1842. She
had lived on Bellebridge Hill for about 50 years and was one of the oldest
members of the Bellebridge Methodist Protestant Church.
The following children survive: Mrs. Catherine (William) Stevick of Homestead,
with whom she had made her home during the past year; Mrs. George (Minnie)
McLay of Elizabeth township; Mrs Della Carrier of Homestead; Mrs Mae Lichleiter
of Homestead; William E. Carothers of Bellebridge; Mrs Sadie Grant of Bellebridge;
Mrs. Annie Hutchison of Kelster, Pa., who is now a patient of McKeesport
Hospital; Harry H. Carothers of Bellebridge; Garfield Carothers of Bradford,
Pa.; Mrs. Nettie (Venetta) Corrigan of Bellebridge; Mrs Ada (Walter) Grimes
of Bellebridge; 38 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great
grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at the Stevick home, 117 East Fifteenthe
street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Shade, pastor
of the Baptist church of Homestead. Interment will be in the Elizabeth
cemetery.
Additonal notes: Mrs. Sadie Grant had been previously married to Gerald
Leech and Mrs. Annie (Nancy Ann) Hutchison had been previously married
to John Conlin. Mrs. Venetta Corrigan's husband was Bernard. Nancy was
predeceased also by two sons, James and George.
