Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you. I have lots of
information to share and hope you can also help me. William Greason
Carothers born about 1720 was married to Isabella Armstrong. They had
the following children: 1. James was the oldest son and he was married to
Elizabeth Patterson of Baltimore(she died 1/16/1825)--this James was
killed by his cousins(not sure how removed0 in his own field. 2. John
married to Mary, he died 10/7/1822. 3. William, who died in 1786,
unmarried. 4. Martin, unmarried died in 1801. 5. Andrew 6. Armstrong died
in 1838. 7. Jean married George Clark. 8. Isabel married Henry Hays.
According to information from a local judge's wife Mrs. Flower who was
related to your side and died probably the late 1950's --Robert Carothers
went from Ramarakillan Scotland in 1716. He was first married to Sarah
Sproul near Paisley. His second married was to Elizabeth Farquar near
Dumfries. By his first married he had a son born around 1696 or 1698 who
died in Cumberland County, PA , IN 1761OR 1762. By a second marriage he
had at least two sons, a son William who died in Cumberland County in
1763 and was progentior of the East Pennsboro Carothers line. Another
son James born around 1701 died before coming to America, left a son
William born around 1721 or 1722 who was the same William that was
married to Isabella Armstrong--this William was progentior of the West
Pennsboro Carothers line.
I am looking for Roger Carothers who had a brother named James Cooper
Carothers or James Carothers Cooper---this James had two sons, John and
James who killed the James Carothers that was married to Elizabeth
Patterson.
I also have other info on the Carothers line.
