Betty, have you seen any evidence of this name being spelt Crothers or
Carothers?
Thank you,

Subject: [CAROTHERS] Caruthers (varied spellings) men in Mekclenberg
Co.,N.C. in 1790 census
In the 1790 Census the following Caruthers were in Mecklenberg Co., N.C.:
1) Edmond Currethers....lived in Dist. #1
2) James Carruthers, lived in Dist. #2
3) Robert Carruthers, lived in Dist. #2
4) John Carruthers, lived in Dist. #2
5) John Carruthers, lived in Dist. #8
6) And. (Andrew) Carruthers, lived in Dist. #9
7) Hugh Carruthers, lived in Dist. #13
8) John Carruthers, lived in Dist. #14
9) James Carruthers, lived in Dist. #13
#1 listed above was my Gr-gr-gr-grandfather. I feel that all of these
Carruthers men were related. Is anyone else on this list related to any of
the abvove listed Caruthers men? I would like to hear from any of you that
are. Edmond Caruthers md. (Mary) Lucretia Stacy in Lincoln Co., N.C. in
1798, then they were in Mecklenberg in 1790.
A copy of a map for Mecklenberg Co., N.C. is in a book which I have, and
it shows the different Districts. If anyone wants a copy of this I will
send it to them offline.
Thanks.
Betty (Guthrie) McCollum
