When Philip Traynor (1860-1927) and Margaret Magharan (1858-abt1912) married in South
Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland in 1880, they indicated on their marriage certificate that
their parents were, respectively, Owen and Rose Carlin Traynor and James and Catherine
Fegan Magharan. The 1881 Leith census indicates that Margaret and Philip were both born in
Ireland and that Philip's Irish-born brother Thomas (b. abt 1853) lived with them at
that time. Margaret and Philip moved to Ohio, USA around 1883 with their infant children,
but there is no evidence that any other family came with them. Oral tradition holds that
the families of Margaret and Philip were from County Cavan. Rose Carlin Traynor was
probably born around 1825-1835 near Cavan. Does anyone have knowledge of her parents
and/or siblings?
