Hello Michael,
Sorry for the delay in replying. Unfortunately I have found little
or no details on my Carolan ancestors and have been concentrating on
the Gaynor side of my family. My Great Grandfather Michael Carolan
was born c. 1836 in Co. Meath. I have found a birth record in 1835
in parish of Kilmessan (15 miles from Dunboyne) for a Michael Carolan
born to a Patrick Carolan & Mary Hudson. I believe this may be his
birth record as he named his first child Patrick b. 1872. It is
unlikely your John Carolan b. 1818 was a brother to my Michael but
perhaps he may be his uncle, who knows. The name John appears
frequently in my Carolan families. Four of Michael Carolan's sons
emigrated to the US in the early 1900s each settling down in
different states: Greenwich Conn.,Pittsburgh PA., Los Angeles Cal.
and Wheeling WV. Don't know of any Carolans who went to
Newfoundland. You might like to check this website
www.brsgenealogy.com where you can search Irish Church Records. Happy
New Year to !
you and best of luck in your research.
Regards Mary
