Carney
Eldra Mitschele Carney, 94, Scottsdale, Ariz., died March 2, 2008. She was born May 27,
1913, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., the daughter of Andrew J. and Frances Elizabeth Mitschele. She
was raised in Holton, graduated from Holton High School in 1931 and attended Central
Business College in Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Carney worked for the Veterans Administration
and the U.S. Postal Service. Prior to moving to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1978, she had lived in
Wichita, Independence, Mo., and Chicago, Ill. She was married to Earl E. Carney for 69
years. He died in 2006. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,
Robert and James; and two sisters, Alma and Viola. Survivors include a daughter, Frances
Carney, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Fern Robertson, Temecula, Calif.; two nephews, Joe
Robertson, Fallbrook, Calif., and John Robertson, Orinda, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Ruth
Mitschele, and a nephew, Steve Mitschele, both of Holton; two nieces, Judy Carney and Kaye
Ann Johnson, Camden!
Point, Mo., and many other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. March 14
at First Christian Church in Scottsdale, Ariz. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens
in Scottsdale. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower
St., Phoenix, AZ 85014; or Hospice of the Southwest, 4025 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe, AZ.
