I don't think we are very closely related. None of the names are in my
family tree, except for Patrick, but my Patrick was in the Detroit - Bay
City areas, I have no info that they were in Chicago or anywhere west. I
have seen a lot of Patrick Carney's , the name is very common. Sorry I
can't be of more help.

Dear Mary Jo;
My name is Barbara Barney and I think you are related to my husband, Edward
Barney. His mother was a Carney and that is our brick wall.
What we have is this:
Mother: Patricia Ann Carney b 1936 CA d 15 Jun 1993 CA
Parents: Edward Whittier Carney b 1890 ND d 20 May 1947 WA
Gladys Blanche Falconer b 1902 IL d 1983 WA
Siblings: John H, Thomas, Frank, William, James, Margaret J, Dan
GParents: Patrick Carney b abt 1835 OH or NY d 1922 ND
Amanda J Goodale b bet 1845 and 1847 d abt 1904 ND
Family history says that Patrick was involved with the development of
Chicago. We can't seem to find any additional information about Patrick, ie
who his parents were, when they immigrated to the US, etc. We have found
some info in the census records, but nothing on Patrick's or Amanda's
parents. If you have any more information on this family, we would love to
hear from you!
TIA

Hi,
I have a Michael Carney in my family tree. The family lived in Boston
after
coming from Ireland, and my gggrandfather was Edward Carney. He lived in
Boston and was married in Boston. Many members of that family moved to
Michigan after the Civil War and lived in Detroit and then Bay City, MI.
Edward had a brother Michael (born 1834 in Ireland) who died in Bay City,
MI
in 1879 or 1880. I do not have any info on his spouse or children. We
were
also told out ancestors came from County Cork, but records show it was
Shinrone, Kings County.
Edward also had a brother Patrick. Their parents were Roger (or Rudolf)
Carney (there is conflicting info on his first name) and his mother was
Margaret. You should be able to see my family tree on
Ancestry.com.
So I'm not sure if this helps or if it's the right Michael Carney.
Mary Jo Hardy (my Mom was Carney)
