Hi All,
My Carney is an Elizabeth KEARNEY born about 1822, in the USA, in
Pennsylvania, NY or even Conneticutt. (Census give a variety of
possibilities) She married William Allan in 1841 in Philadelphia, had 3
kids, then they moved to San Francisco where they had 5 more children.
The church marriage record does not list parents or place of origin or
anything helpful, just the date. The Kearney/Carney name is so common that
the 1840 census has several possibilities-no way to tell which familiy is
hers. When her husband died in 1876 still in California, Elizabeth had the
obituary printed in the Philadelphia papers-so they must have had some
relatives still living in the area.
She and William Allan had the following children; William m Ellen ?
John (whom I believe died young)
Mary m Samuel Foster Tilden
Elizabeth m James Kiely
Cecilia (no marriage that I can find)
George m Maggie Darragh
Jane m John Morgan
Amanda m ?
Does anyone out there recognize my Elizabeth? I'd love to know what you
know!
Thanks,
Liane
