Seeking information on the parents and siblings of John Carney born 8 Dec.
1820 possibly in Kentucky and died 30 June 1859 in Vermilion County, IL. He
is buried in Rose Cemetery near Bismarck, Vermilion County, IL.
Carney was the second postmaster for Kentucky, Vermilion County, IL sometime
between 1853-59. Supposedly residents of Kentucky, IL were from Kentucky.
He married Catherine Elizabeth Rutledge 3 Aug. 1853 in Verm. Co., IL. She
died 25 Nov. 1855. They had one child Sylvia who married Thomas Fugate.
On the 8 May 1856, Carney married Nancy Brewer Rutledge. They had a
daughter Elizabeth who married Isaac Johnson, son of John and Susan Goodner
Johnson on 6 Feb. 1873. After the death of Carney, Nancy married Henry
Sloan. Nancy died in 1893 and is buried in Potter's Field in Springhill
Cemetery, Danville, Verm. Co., IL. Nancy was married first to John C.
Rutledge.
It is not known if John Carney was married before Catherine E. Rutledge.
Will share information on these families with cousins.
