If you haven't already, onsider expanding your search in terms of the spelling of
"Carney." I am looking for family and descendants of Richard and Narcissa
Kearney of Louisa County, Iowa. The name is spelled every which way in the census records
-- "Carney," "Karney," "Kearny." Richard was born in
Ireland about 1814-1817, he was a carpenter, and he died in 1890. In the 1856 census his
name is "Karney," as it is in 1880. One of his sons, Samuel J., became a
butcher. There was a Michael ("Michle") Carney over in Des Moines County who
was also a butcher, born in Ireland about 1825.
I'm still looking for connections.
