Hi,
I'm trying to sort out various Peterson lines in Salem County, New Jersey so
appreciate in information on the people named in the following mortgage deed. Note the
last line that indicates Thomas Carney, Esq is executor to the estate of the mortgagee,
John Roberts in 1786.

One thousand Seven Hundred & Seventy (13 Jan 1770) AND also all those Six acres and
one
quarter of Swamp and Marsh which is Butted & Bounded as follows (that is to say)
BEGINNING
at the mouth of a small gut Running ito Salem Creek, there being a Maple marked for a
Corner,
thence South 43 Degrees West 11 Poles and a half to a Maple Corner, then North 78 Poles,
Standing in the Division Line (to) a Maple Corner, and from thence Down the Division Line
North
East 11 Pole to the S'd Creek, then up the s'd Creek Bounding on the Several
Courses thereof to
the place of Beginning, Containing Six Acres & one Quarter of Swamp and marsh.
The Mortgage Deed dated the first day of September ADom. 1770
The Principal Sum One Hundred & sixty Pounds Proclamation Money (L160)
Payable the first day of Septemeber ADom. 1772 with Lawfull Interest.
The Mortgage Deed Acknowledged the 1st Day of Septemeber ADom. 1770 Before Preston
Carpenter, Esq., was brought to the office to be Recorded, & Recorded the 22nd day of
Septemeber ADom. 1770 by me, G. Trenchard, Clk.
Written perpendicularly to this deed, in the margin:
This Mortgage is paid and the Deed canceled, & taken off or Discharged by an order
from Thomas
Carney, Esq, Ex'r to the Estate of the Mortgagee the 27th Day of December 1786;
