Patrick was born in 1799 died in 1859. He married Bridget, who was born in 1805 and died
in 1870. Both are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lawrence, MA. I believe they may
have been born in Ireland, possibly in Meath, and may have married there. I know there
were two children: Matthew Carney, probably born in Ireland (according to the 1880
census), lived from 1842-1 Feb. 1897, He married Sarah Ellen Quinn on 18 May 1875. He is
listed in an 1860 Federal Census in Lawrence, MA, ward 2. She lived in Newmarket, NH in
1860 according to the census. Then after her marriage, she lived in Manchester with him
(in the 1880 census). She was born 22 November 1849, probably in Newfields, NH. She died
16 November 1927 in NY, but is buried in Lawrence, MA. They had 6 children. I know Matthew
Carney was in the liquor business and his brother, Michael Carney, lived longer than
Matthew did. I have no details about Michael but he may have been born 1 October 1849 in
Lawrence, MA. Some Carneys!
lived in Manchester, NH and some in Lawrence, MA. Others lived in Newfields, NH. Later
there was a son of Matthew & Sarah named Matthew Francis Carney, who is my great
grandfather. His dates are 30 Sept. 1887 - 24 March 1937. I am seeking information about
Michael Carney & his brother Matthew Carney in the Lawrence, MA area.
