Brad,
Don't know if this is your family or not so let me know what you think.
I looked at the 1920 Indiana Delaware County Census records.
1920 Delaware Co (MUNCIE ) township
Dewlling #234
Lewis Carney 67 0r 69 yrs. born Ind father b. Ind mother b. Ind.
Alice Carney (wife) 52
Virgil Simason 10 stepson
Alta Drikill? 20 step-daughter (married)
Harry Drikill? 28 step-son-in-law (married)
Cecil Drikill? 1 8/12 step grandson
Evelyn Drikill? 4 mos step grandaughter
I think this Lewis is (James Lewis Carney) and this is his second wife and family. I
beleive this because I found a marriage record as follows:
Delaware Co..Muncie (marriage records)
James Lewis Carney b. Oct 26, 1856
married Mary Alice Simason b. Apr. 13, 1867
on Feb. 11, 1917...Book C-24
You can check this marriage date of 1917 against the death date of Lucinda Carney...If she
had already passed away that's why he remarried or if she was still alive they may
have been divorced for some reason.
Also found in 1920 census
Delaware Co. (Center) township
Eli Carney 36 b. Ind
He was married and had 5 children.
living with Eli was his brother JOHN C. or G. CARNEY age 34 and single
In 1930 Eli and family were in (MUNCIE)
his brother John was still living with him and still single.
There was also in Delaware Co, same area as Eli and John
a George Carney 32 years and a Calvin Carney 43 years
There was also a Joseph Carney 40 yrs but he was listed as MULATTO for race.
One other Delaware Co (Muncie) marriage record.
Eli Carney married Minnie Robertson Nov 5, 1905 Book C-16
