My William Carney was born in 1847 in Liverpool, England as it turns out. We were told
that he had a brother that went to Australia. When I was trying to research the birth
records online I found that there was a John Carney who was also born in Liverpool in
(March?)1847 and I thought that William and John might have been twins but when I ordered
the records they sent me the wrong ones and never answered my e-mails about the mix up.
From William's death record in the U. S. I learned that his parents were John Carney
and Mary Moclair. Prior to moving to Liverpool they had lived in Balinasloe, County
Galway, Ireland. Someone on an Irish website told me that there was a John Carney in
Balinasloe who worked for a Lord Clonbrook (I think that's the name) in that time
period. Let me know what you think.
