Thank you for the reply. This gives me a few cracks in my brick wall. Maybe one of them
will open for me. I have found one possible match in the 1850 census that would fit into
this group. There is a listing an A. Kerney or Karney in Bibb County, Georgia. I know
how spelling was by some of the census-takers. A. Karney's wife is Mary. There is a
John Karney in the household who is the correct age for my gg-grandfather. Both A. Karney
and John Karney show their birth as SC. There is a Margaret Karney who would be the
correct age for my gg-grandmother in the household. John and Margaret's first child
was born in Georgia in latae 1851 or early 1852, according to the 1860 census when they
were in Missouri. If this would happen to be my gg-grandparents, then it could be his
father would be Captain Absalom Carney that you have listed. This does give me some
information to look into a little deeper. Thank you so much for the information.
