Don't know if this will be of much help: I have
noticed in some of my research of the Carney line from
western Pa. (Indiana Co.) the spelling of the name
Carney was "Kearney" and all of a sudden the "Carney"
spelling appeared. Never found a rhym or reason.

Listers,
I am looking for a connection to my Kearney line to
break down this brick wall. I have Kearney relations
in St. John's Newfoundland. My gr gr gr grandmother,
Ellen Kearney, married Joseph Morrissey in ~1830.
They had at least four children, of which my gr gr
grandfather, John Morrissey, was one. According to
family history, she was from County Kilkenny,
Ireland. John died at sea, according to family
history. The information is slim becuase that is all
I have. Any connections out there?

Bill,
Sorry, I don't think I have any connections. I
haven't come across any Carney-Kearny connections in
my line as far as I know back to the early 1800's.
