Just to remind everyone about this question:
About 20 years ago my father used to get beautiful invitations to the Carney Castle in
Ireland. It was a big reunion of the Carney family
and you spent the weekend in the castle. The invitations were beautifully embossed with
the Carney shield and gold lettering. It looked as
though someone took a lot of time preparing for the event. Activities were listed as well
as an approximate cost of round trip airfare from
NY to Ireland. They were from a Carney family member. I don't remember anything else
about it. I do know that a lot of my cousins also got
an invitation and since we could not afford to go, we just tossed out the invitations.
Now that I'm researching my family tree, I
remembered the invites and wanted one to keep with my Carney stuff. I do remember that
the Castle was big and was not in ruins. Someone
sent me information on the Kearney Castle,
http://www.tipp.ie/kearneys.htm
but I don't think that's it because it is in ruins. That's what started this
thread... a long time ago. Thanks so much for replying. Maybe
we will find this "Phantom" Castle one of these days.

it is.
