YOUNGSTOWN - Dolores H. Pleger, 93, passed away Saturday morning, May 18, 2013 with her
family by her side.
Mrs. Pleger was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Youngstown, Ohio (MAHONING COUNTY) a daughter of
Albert Joseph and Susanna Hanley Carney.
She was employed by Ursuline High School for 21 years, serving as a secretary and retired
in 1981 as the paymaster and bookkeeper.
Previous to her employment at Ursuline High School, she was a billing clerk for
Isaly's, a billing clerk for Truscon Steel, spending time between Youngstown and
Detroit, where she spent one year and Erb Machine Company as a bookkeeper.
As an avid card player she especially enjoyed playing Bridge and 500. She also loved to
sew enjoyed bowling, gardening and birds.
Mrs. Pleger was a graduate of South High School and Peters Comptometer School
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Mary Anne (George) Gania of Warren, Ohio;
twin granddaughters, Tiffany and Stephanie Chimento; sisters, Marie Martin of Carmichael,
Calif., Loretta Bratton of Boardman, Ohio, Theresa Carney of Portland, Oregon and Carol
LoGuidice of Mexico; brother, Dr. Tom Carney of Houston.
Beside her husband, Fred William Pleger, whom she married Jan. 26, 1946, passed away on
April 18, 1987, her brothers, Robert Carney, Joseph A. Carney and Vincent B. Carney, and
sisters, Alberta A. Duby and Regina C. McAuliffe, are deceased.
A Mass of Christine Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Christine Church.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Wednesday at the
church.
Arrangements are by the McCauley Funeral Home, serving the Valley for more than 111
years.
